Computers are fun!
Early days
I have always liked computers. At first I liked playing games, as any kid would. Then I discovered that I could write my own code. Every problem became solvable. With a condition. And a loop. Nested loop. Nested inside another loop. Luckily I didn't stop there :) Little by little, I learned more and more about the craft.
Seznam.cz
For more than 10 years I worked at Seznam.cz, which is often called the "Czech Google", maintaining and improving their ad delivery system. I learned a lot about C++, distributed systems and low-latency programming while working there. It also left me concerned about the state of the modern internet, with its attention economy and loss of privacy.
Prusa Research
Since May 2023 I have been working at Prusa Research, developing firmware for 3D printers running on the STM32 platform. Firmware is open source, so you can check out my commits.
Climbing is fun!
I fell in love with climbing during the COVID pandemic. Being outside with friends, breathing fresh air, and enjoying something which I thought was reserved only for the elite left me wanting to explore more. I later joined the mountaineering club HO Humanita. I sincerely recommend them to anybody from Prague who is interested in climbing and wants friendly company for safe outdoor adventures.
Kung-fu is fun!
I have been practicing kung-fu with sifu Pavel Macek for more than a decade now, and I can't recommend it enough. Learning some basic self-defence and fighting is useful on its own, but kung-fu teaches you to overcome obstacles, strengthen your body, improve your flexibility and posture, calm your mind, and much, much more!
